I have a policy from 6/22/1962. In the past 3 years I lost my bussiness because of COVID had to sell my home, have been in 2 serious/life threatening car accidents impacting my ability to get a job.....and I am 70. I thought I would be able to use my NM policy and SS income to keep on living and would use my money fom my policy. I had not recieved a statement from them in 2 years+. Turns out that for 7 years my address had not been updated. Out of the blue 2 days ago I got an email notice from NM....wanting money - a payment to keep the policy in place - I paid $250.87 because they scared me. The next day I recieved an email informing me that I would have to pay them a "lump sum" to keep the policy in place. What good is the money in the policy if I can't use it till I am dead...even then? That is no investment. For years NM has been making a profit off my money and now I owe them!? NM advised me of tax penalties if I did not pay them back for the now/unknown loan they made money on. I was misinformed re being able to use the death benefit, lied to and NM can not keep accurate, up to date records....it is their clients money they are supposedly managing professionally. At this point I want to surrender the policy and not have to pay for something I already payed for - what good is it? They made their money at my expense. Why should I be victimized to fill NM pockets for years?
