My loan was sold to them. Never received a 1098 in the mail. Called 3x. They said it’s not online. (They never mailed it to me.) Now I’m on my 3rd phone call with them for 1.5 hours. 1st call: I emailed it to you. Checked email: Nothing. 2nd Call: Rep couldn’t find it. 3rd Call: Rep had to search for a while. Emailed it and received. Terrible Company. 1098 should have been mailed. 1098 should have been accessible on App. It shouldn’t have taken almost 2 hours to obtain.

I have a mortgage with them so they told me my Escrow was short and I had to my extra on my payment To come out the the negative so from may of 2024 to may of 2025 I still short but I have a tax credit for 12 years they got money back from my tax twice Since being short didn’t notify me not one time sent me two letters, saying they was gonna update it and never did I wish I never did business with this company they are crooked so please don’t get a mortgage with this company save yourself the hassle an headacheM&T Bank

stinks….. false accusations were made. The vice president of fraud Melissa is incompetent will not listen to reason is rude and needs more training in her job duties. She has let her title go to her head.She is difficult to speak to and treats people like they are dirt under her feet. please fire her immediately she is stinking up the bank that we have loved. we are now closing our accounts and leaving this bank due to the rudeness and complete nonsense and chaos this woman has put on my 82 year old mother.M&T Bank

I never missed a payment or was late and one month they charged me almost double interest. This banking facility are crooks. You can't speak to a manager and their employees will talk over you. If I could give them a lower score I would.M&T Bank

Crappy bank. My mortgage was sold to them and they are horrible. I’m a 100% tax exempt disabled veteran and it’s been a year since I have submitted my paperwork to them. Still nothing and no tax exemption. Last year it was “Wait until the 2024 taxes come out”. Now it’s “Wait until the 2025 taxes come out”. I have contacted my local tax office and they verified they will not be collecting taxes from me however it’s still going into my escrow. I have contacted the bank several times and they are worthless and flat out refuse to help their disabled veterans out.M&T Bank

1 starComplete fraud and unprofessionalism they literally don’t know how to calculate escrow. They don’t pay home insurance out of the escrow account on time and have to argue on a weekly basis on something else they messed up.Review fromStephanie E

1 starWorst loan I’ve ever had. I paid more then the amount due on a monthly basis and every penny was posted to interest. I had my loan for a year and paid over $4,000 with just over $200 being applied to interest. Can’t seem to get an answer from anyone. 1/21/25 - payment due $382.00. Payment $400. All under interest. Same for February and when you want answers you’re hung up on. NEVER use this bank!!! They stolen thousands and provide no explanation. One star is too many. M & T Bank is worse than the mafia with their bullying and intimidation tactics. They will run scams on you, use loopholes in your contract, misrepresent and out and out lie to push you into foreclosure on an office building that is worth 3x what is left on the mortgage, is fully rented and has never missed a payment. All the while they refuse to give you any records, numbers or information. Even the IRS will listen to you. Don't waste your time fuming at them on this forum -report them to the Federal Reserve, FDIC, Consumer Finance Dept, Attorney General of your state and other regulatory agencies. Bury them in investigations and paperwork They are the worst kind of predatory lenders. They deserve to be sued into oblivion!M&T Bank

Rude and unfriendly people. They treated me like I was interrupting their day. They were snarky and denigrating to me. Forty minutes on the phone with “Leah,” who could not answer a simple question about a lost mortgage payment and could only repeat herself. Then transferred To a supervisor, who found the mistake that eluded “Leah” but said it was too much work for them to correct because they already sent out 1099s. This is why DEI does not work and I propose possibly getting qualified people to handle our money.M&T Bank
