Paving Contractors
Eli's PavingInformation and Alerts
BBB Accreditation concerning Eli's Paving was suspended on February 21, 2023, due to the company’s failure to respond to a subcontractor complaint filed with BBB Jan. 13, 2023, from a subcontractor alleging failure to pay $800.00 for work performed for the company on October 26, 2022, a job of sweeping a section of a parking lot for Eli's Paving for an agreed upon amount of $800.00 for work performed in October 2022. Eli’s Paving failed to respond to multiple BBB requests by email and phone requesting the company’s side of the story. Subsequently after suspension of BBB Accreditation, the business responded to the complaint and BBB resumed dispute resolution efforts and when that complaint is re-closed in BBB files this portion of the profile will be updated accordingly and the company's BBB accreditation status will be re-evaluated at that time. Although failure to pay an employee, subcontractor or vendor is not publicly reportable as a customer complaint and doesn’t impact the company’s BBB letter grade rating as a customer complaint, when the business involved is an Accredited Business, BBB pursues the company’s side of the story based on standards to honor promises and embody integrity. A complete list of BBB Accreditation Standards can be viewed online at https://www.bbb.org/bbb-accreditation-standards . If the underlying cause of the Suspension of BBB Accreditation is resolved, the Suspension will be removed from the BBB Business Profile and Accreditation may be Reinstated. If the suspension of BBB Accreditation becomes a final expulsion and revocation of BBB Accreditation, that information will become a part of the BBB Business Profile for one year from the date that action becomes final concerning the company, unless the underlying cause is resolved and accreditation is reinstated.
Important Information
Advertising Review
In March and April of 2023, BBB emailed and called Eli's Paving regarding its advertised claim of ‘50% off any custom framing.’ The ad failed to state the basis for the 50% off, such as 50% off regular price as required by BBB’s Code of Advertising. The business did not respond to BBB’s request for revisions and clarification in its advertising.”20 years of experience" which appears on their website.
As the owner of Eli's Paving was 26 years old at the time of the claim, BBB suggested adding "Est. 2021" to the website, to help consumers better understand the difference between when the business was established verses the years of experience any staff may bring to a job.
BBB Code of Advertising reads: "All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided."
The business called our office to discuss the matter, but failed to modify or discontinue the claim.
